Vinske ceste Zmajevac
Baranja is the mother of wine, and its wine capital is Zmajevac. Zmajevac's economy is based on agriculture: arable farming as well as winegrowing, fruit growing and the production of wines known far and wide. The southern slope of Baranja Hill (Baranjska planina), which belongs to Zmajevac, offers the best conditions for producing fine wines.
The wine roads of Zmajevac, the Catholic and Reformed surduks (sunken lanes), are already well known for their rich wine and food. The best-known winemakers here are the Gerštmajer family with their "Vinotočje" Zmajevac business, the "Josić" family winery, the "Čočić" wine cellar, the family of Lajoš Kovač, the family of Ištvan Majorić and many other farming households. The area's food is known through the "Čokot čarda", the "Monjoroš" Hunting Lodge and "Baranjski dvori".
The first Wine Marathon was held in 2005 as part of the village day, and over time the event grew into a celebration of the village itself and its customs. The aim of the Wine Marathon is for visitors to get to know all the beauties of Zmajevac, its customs and what it offers to tourists.
